I am facing THR in the very near future and I'm concerned about the whole deal (scared would probably be a better word). I started having knee pain and it just got worse, so went to my Dr who took xrays and said it wasn't my knee. I then was referred to an orthopedic surgeon who xrayed my hip and said it needed replacing. I can't understand my knee hurting so badly when it is really my hip that is the problem. I have had hip pain also, plus groin pain, but the knee has given me the most problems. Now I am getting a lot of bone popping.
I would love to hear from some of you who have had this surgery and would like to give me some encouraging words. I've read a lot of the letters already posted and haven't found a lot of people who aren't having post-surgery problems.
Also, I am 64 years old and overweight, which I understand is much harder to go through the healing period. I live alone and my daughter will be able to check on me once a day, but she has her job. Will I need someone to take care of me 24 hours a day? I have lots of questions and hope you all will help answer some of them.
Also, it seems like everyone I talk to knows of someone who had this THR and is just doing "wonderful." I haven't found anyone I could talk to one-on-one who has had the surgery.
Thanks so much.
