I had THR on left hip Dec 8, 2000. I already have less pain than before. I was out of hospital after only 4 days. I only used PCA for pain about 13 times in 2 1/2 days and most of those were advised by nurse because they were going to turn me or get me up. The worst problems so far at home are a pinched nerve in right leg and a hemoroid from sitting to much. I wasn't a good candidate for THR. I am 37 and big as a house. Im 6'5" and over 300 lbs(about the size of your average ovensive linemen). Im sure that it will work great because im young and have great bones. Other than a bad hip and being over weight(easy to be when you cant exercise) im as health as you can be. If your thinking about getting it done just research a little and do it. I want a quality life now not when im 65 ill worry about that if I make it that far. Tony
