Hello, HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!! I read your posting and understand your frustration. What many peopel with this type of ssurgery does not understand that this is REALLY (for most) a year for total recovery, until you will feel 100%. I know first hand how hard it is to keep positive thoughts, but this is important for a healthy and faster recovery. Feeling sorry for ourselves is very easy to do. We've all been there. The groin pain and muscle pain we all feel is due to muscle weakness. That is why PT and moving around is the best medicine. It's soooo easy to just sit down and let the world go by then to deal with the discomfort/pain. Doing a little more each day will eventually pay off. I have been assistance free since 8 wks. Two weeks on a walker,2 wks on a 4 prong cane and 2 wks on a cane. It helped to walk around the kitchen area to shed the cane. My DR. told me the sooner you are on your own the better it is mentally and physically. Of course, there are many reading that this does not work, such as bone grafting etc... I am 6 months post-op and ready for Spring so I can try out my new hip and do yard work. Take care...............kls
