There are a lot of scary stories in cyberspace.
My first total hip replacement took place on December 18, 2000. The first two days weren't great, but by the third day it wasn't so bad. On the fourth day I was in rehab and I was home in ten days. Using prescribed medication, the pain was realy minimal.
Yes, the precautions do create a few problems, but I have to tell you that IT WAS MUCH MUCH LESS PAINFUL than I had expected and I'm a lot older than your husband.
It's not three weeks yet and, although a walker is still feels more secure, I've started to use a cane.
STOP worrying. Stop reading the horror stories. He's going to be so relieved to have it over with.
I'm going to have my second one as soon as the doctor says it's O.K. so you know that I mean every word of encouragement.
