Hi. I was reading your article about your husbands upcoming surgery. In my case, I had to have a new hip, but I did not wantit and so far there is no improvement in the pain I had before surgery and the pain I have now at almost 5 months. I had to have surgery because after I broke my hip and it healed, I got avn and when you have that you just get a new hip usually. The only pain I don't have now is the popping sound I had when I walked. (that was fun.) I firmly believe if you do not need a hip, don't do it. You should keep your own hip as long as you can, BUT, if your Dr. says to have surgery, you should do as your Dr. says. If your husband is in this severe of pain and the Dr. says surgery, than I am sure the Doctor knows what he is talking about. Also ask what kind of implant they are going to use. Bye for now. Donna
