I have been on steroids for over 10, that's right, 10 years and have developed avascular necrosis in both hips but so far only the left hip is symtomatic and needs a thr. In spite of all the success stories i remain concerned as i live alone and don't know how much help i will need to plan on after the surgery and what that 4-6 week period will really be like plus i have concerns about the implant itself, especially after the article in today's (1-10-01) newspaper about a recall of defective implants made by one of the leading manufacturers of same. I would welcome any thoughts or information or experiences or advice from any of you out there.
