This site has been very helpful in acquiring the patient's perspective on hip replacement. I'm trying to learn everything I can about the surgery my Mom will be having next week. She is 85 and in good health but overweight and marginally troubled by high blood pressure. To the person who wrote, "Let pain be your guide," thank you. Mama can barely walk, even with the aid of a walker. This is awful for her. Still, we are frightened of the surgery and the aftermath. How bad will the recovery period be? If anyone has suggestions, helpful comments, questions we should ask the surgeon, etc. I'd be grateful to hear from you.
