On Dec 4th, 2000 i was in a car accident and broke the ball end off my Femur bone, it was screwed back in with three screws, and for ten weeks i was not allowed to put weight on the leg, i had also fractured my kneecap. Its now been 12 weeks, i have started using crutches but during the ten weeks of no use the bone compressed a 1/2" so now i have to use special shoes to make up that difference, the pain is still in the hip, and the screws have protruded from the bone about a 1/4" looking at the x-rays. I am wondering should I have a partial hip replacement? I am very active, I golf 4 rounds a week, work full time. I am 46 be 47 in May. My physician says he doesnt like doing a hip replacement on my age group? Should I seek another doctor? HELP....
