I am a 33 year old that was born with CDH in both hips that wasn't diagnosed until I was 18. If it had been I could have been fixed as an infant, but since it was missed have had to have a periacetabular osteotomy in one hip and and am having the next one in about 3 weeks. I think you are doing the right thing. As a child I had arthritis and was very limited in my activity and since becoming an adult have had many encounters with doctors who just weren't helpful because it was long believed that there was no way to fix people like us. My surgeon is at Children's Hospital in Boston and specializes in fixing adults with CDH. I wish I had met him a long time ago. Perhaps he could give some advice on the subject.
