Hi I am not sure if this well help much but symptoms can vary from day to day. If you have any unusual pain that can not be explained, it is worth checking it out. I also have SLE and have been on high doses of Prednisone since the age of 11. I was diagnosed with AVN at 19 and have had my right hip replaced. If you have any clicking sounds coming from the hip area or if it feels warmer than the other side, if certain positions pull more or for some reason you feel stuck when trying to stand up or when bending, these are all pain-free symptoms at the very beginning. I found that within a month I was limping because I could no longer bear the weight equally. If, for nay reason you find yourself avoiding to put weight on your hip, it is worth checking it. I am stressing this because I, on the other other hand, let it get so bad before seeking help. Feel free to write me. Glynis
