I had to have all the hardware removed and a spacer (girdle stone) put in. It was there for 5-6 weeks while I was treated with IV antibiotics. I had a PIC line put in my vein in my arm and it snaked through just short of my heart. I plugged in 2x a day for IV antibiotics. The space is spongy and you are non-weight bearing on that side while it's in. Infections are a real bummer - It's unfortunate. Sorry! The good news - that was a year and a half ago and today I am doing great. There is hope. Good luck!
