I've never been put on any of the actual pain meds like Darvocet. I've always been given NSAIDS (Ibuprofin, Naprosyn etc). The one that worked miracles (til I acclimated to it) was Relefen. A lot of insurance won't cover it but I was off my cane the day I started taking it. I discovered when I had my nose surgery that sometimes pain medicine won't take away pain caused by inflammation. If you take away the inflammation, the pain goes with it. I don't know if this will help in your case but it might be worth a try.
